Cleft Care

Dr. Jones is the team Orthodontist/Pediatric Dentist for the Craniofacial Foundation of Utah’s Cleft Team. He works with specialists consisting of a plastic surgeon, oral maxillofacial surgeon, otolaryngologist and others to provide the comprehensive care that these patients require.

Dr. Jones is one of only a handful of dual-trained and dual board certified pediatric dentists/orthodontists in the country and he coordinates care with various Cleft Teams in Utah to discuss and plan the best treatment options for their patients.

Dr. Jones is experienced in a variety of dental and orthodontic procedures, prescribed by their craniofacial surgeon, for patients with cleft lip and palate. Dr. Jones received advanced training in Nasal Alveolar Molding Device (NAM) during his various residencies and directly from Dr. Barry Grayson the developer of the NAM appliance. Using the NAM appliance, Dr. Jones works with these infants weekly over the course of 3-5 months to help ready them for their first cleft lip repair surgery. He then sees them as they grow for specialized orthodontic care that is tailored to their unique needs.
